Noise generated by aircraft is set to increase with the introduction of large numbers of Regional and Urban Air Mobility vehicles. Quieter engines will provide considerable competitive advantage to engine & aircraft manufacturers, airport authorities and operators.

A largest source of broadband noise is the interaction between the Fan and Outlet Guide Vanes or Stators which sit at the front of the engine bypass air ducts. As the air hits the leading edge it fluctuates between high and low pressure creating vibration in the air (or noise). Oscar’s patented technology involves providing porous material between the high pressure and low pressure sides of the vanes to even out the pressure fluctuations and reduce the noise.

Reductions of 7dB have been achieved in the frequency range to which the human ear is most susceptible.
